ECE Teacher to Child Ratio
At JoAnnes Home Daycare, I am committed to always staying within the Teacher to Child Ratio set out by the Ontario Government.
Here is the link to the Day Nurseries Act, R.S.O. 1990, Chapter D.2 : http://www.e-laws.gov.on.ca/html/statutes/english/elaws_statutes_90d02_e.htm
Please refer to the definition section (sec. 1, subsection 1) where it states:
"Private-home day care" means the temporary care for reward or compensation of five children or less who are under ten years of age where such care is provided in a private residence, other than the home of a parent or guardian of any such child, for a continuous period not exceeding twenty-four hours"
I added the underlining, as that is the phrase that indicates that the numbers do not include the providers own children. I have three children of my own. My son however, attends Junior Kindergarten on a part time basis. The parents of children in my care will tell you that I rarely care for the maximum allowance of children although I do take advantage of this higher ratio allowance on days such as P.A. days when I offer care for the school-agers that previously attended JoAnnes Home Daycare as little ones.
